2017 Series Information and Rules

The Run St. Augustine Race Series consists of 12 select, local running events through the calendar year.

Placing in the top five by overall or age group, in any of the races in the series, qualifies a participant for points in the Run St. Augustine Race Series. Your paid entry to any of the races in the series qualifies you to be scored for series awards.  There will be unique awards, presented to the series winners, following the awards ceremony of the final series race, the Santa Suits on the Loose 5K, on Saturday, December 9, 2017.

To be eligible for awards in the Run St. Augustine Race Series you must finish at least FIVE series races and you must score points in at least one series race.

You may be eligible for only ONE award. If you win the overall male or female award, you are excluded from the age group awards.

Awards will be given to the single Overall Male and Overall Female winners of the series. The top three winners of the following age groups will receive series awards, for both males and females: 9 and Under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, and 75 and Over.

Points will be awarded according to the age you were in the race that you first earned points. Example: If you are 24 in the first race you earn points, you will be in the 20-24 age group for the remainder of the series, even if you turn 25 at another point in the series.

Points will be awarded according to placement in a race. Points will be given to the top 5 overall finishers in each race, both male and female, and the top 5 in each age category. Points for the age groups are not based on the exclusion of those who score overall points. Points will be awarded in this manner, irrespective of the awards categories by which the individual races are scored.  Following is a list of the points that will be awarded for each race. The only exception to these point amounts will be with the Spud Run Half Marathon.  Place finishers in the Spud Run Half Marathon will receive double the points listed below. Place finishers in the Spud Run 5K and all other races will be awarded the points listed below.

1st Place - 10 points

2nd Place - 7 points

3rd Place - 5 points

4th Place - 3 points

5th Place - 1 point

For the CHARACTER COUNTS! 6K/3K Run/Walk, points will be awarded in both the 6K and 3K.  Since these races are run at the same time, an individual runner will only be able to score series points in one race.

For the Spud Run Half Marathon, 5K and Cabbage Crawl Kids Fun Run, points will be awarded in both the Half Marathon and 5K.  Since these races are run at the same time, an individual runner will only be able to score series points in one race. Those scoring in the half marathon will be awarded double points.

For the Endless Summer 10K and 5K, points will be awarded in both the 10K and 5K.  Since these races are run at the same time, an individual runner will only be able to score series points in one race.

For the Cottonmouth Quarter Marathon and 5K, points will be awarded in both the Quarter Marathon and 5K.  Since these races are run at the same time, an individual runner will only be able to score series points in one race.

In the event of a tie at the end of the series, the runner with the most head-to-head victories will be the winner. If there is still a tie, the times from the head-to-head competitions will be totaled and the runner with the fastest overall time will be the winner. If there is still a tie we will have a dance-off.
